Steampink Week

The lovely Velvet Van Buren, book blogger extraordinaire, is hosting Steampink week on her blog.

In her words, steampink is: female heroine stories with romance, adventure or mystery in a steampunk world.

All week (and I'm a little late in posting this) she has a virtual trip in a steam car complete with fiction from steampunk authors, recipes, and an all around atmosphere of Victoriana.

It's lots of fun, and I have a story going up (an excerpt from my work in progress) on the 11th. I hope you'll stop by and take a ride with me. ;)

Okay, I still don't know what steampunk is. What's a steampunk world?

Sounds fun. I'll try to come by and read your excerpt.

Think Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. ;) It's an alternate Victorian London that imagines we never invented a combustible engine, never went digital, but instead created a mechanical steampowered world. It usually has a lot of jet packs, submarines, airships, brass, gears, and automatons.

Today people are writing steampunk in other settings, too. Scott Westerfield's Leviathan is steampunk, so is Cherie Priest's Boneshaker, even though it's set in Seattle - and includes zombies. ;)

Thanks for stopping by the blog! I hope you enjoy the excerpt.
