Marta Acosta is hosting a Book Trailer contest (details here). I have to admit, as much as I love techie stuff, I'm really out of the You Tube loop. I'm not much of an online video guru. So I'm curious, have any of you watched a book trailer? Do you have a favorite? Will you do a book trailer for your book? Let me know!!

I've looked at a few book videos on You tube, not because I have sought them out (not sure how one would go about doing that), but because they were linked somewhere. So far I haven't been that impressed.
July 6, 2007 at 1:51 PMI can see the possibilities for viral marketing if you had a cool video that got some buzz, but practically I just don't see how one can create a quick video on a book. A successful series could likely do a good one with a new book coming out, but just a regular book? I'll have to see a great one before I believe it can happen.
I've seen a few book trailers, but the only ones that impressed me in a positive way were professionally done.
July 7, 2007 at 3:13 PMIMHO, they seem most likely to be more faddish than effective.
No trailers from me, or none that I'll make on my own, at any rate.
I agree with both of you - I have yet to see it done well enough to convince me it's a good idea. Maybe it's more of a thing among the YA market, embedded in a MySpace page?
